"Okay, now let's learn a melody that utilizes the three strings that we know notes on so far. E, A and D. How about this song called, "When the Saints Go Marching In," a traditional classic. So, we start on G for this one. G, B on the A string, C, D. G, B, C, D, G, B, C, D, B, G, B, then A, B, A, G, G, B, D, D, D, C, B, C, D, B, G, A, G, okay? This is also going to have ties, so it will be like if we cut it off we actually start on the second beat, one, two, three, four, one. Two, three, four, one, the D here counts as a whole note meaning four beats, one, two, three, four and it's tied to a quarter note. A tie will appear as a line, connecting the two, a curved line over the two notes, so that will extend. So G, B, C, D, 2, 3, 4, 1, G, B, C, D, G, B, C, D, B, G, B, A, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, B, A, G, G, B, D, D, D, C, B, C, D, B, G, A, G. So try learning "When the Saints Go Marching In.""
