"CASEY CORMIER: So, if you've been following along, you're already in drop D tuning, okay. So we have this sound where we play D major cord but we play all the notes on top, okay. Well, this is nice but we still have our regular cord shapes everything that were required to use but if we want to have completely open cord shapes. Well, we can drop other strings, for example, we're going to drop this A here to sound like a G by playing open G, and matching the 12th fret harmonic of A to that sound. Alright good. D, G, and B remained the same, okay. They're the same tuning cause you can find the D, G, and B in the composition of the G major cord. Think of this as the fact that we're making the composition of a D major. Now, we can use a relative tuning technique here to play the 3rd fret of the D string and drop the D down to that. But if we really are keen on harmonics, we can use the 5th fret harmonic if I now drop D and match open E to that. Now, we strum starting on the A string, we have an open G cord. [GUITAR PLAYING] Okay, so that's a G major cord. This is how it should sound. "
