"Okay, let's use our step pattern now to figure out the G major scale. Okay, so we're going to start with G. We're going to start on the low E string, the third fret G. Go whole step for A, whole step for B, half step for C, whole step for D, whole step for E, whole step for F sharp and half step for G. So with the open notes in there, its G A B C D E F sharp G. That F sharp right there is really what determines the difference between the G major and the C major scale. Otherwise they're all natural notes. So, if we decide to make that movable pattern, you'll remember for C, it was three, five, two, three, five, two, four, five. We can make that same pattern, starting on the low E string and going to the D string. Three, five, two, three, five, two, four, five. We have the same pattern this way, same fingering and it's movable."
