"I'm Dr. Charles Grimes and I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village about how to deal with the day of your theatrical audition. You should probably plan some warm-up exercises and tongue twisters that you can do before the audition, just about when you're ready to go on. You should plan these out, have them ready, and also they're a very good thing to use before you dig into your rehearsal time to make sure you're fully energized. As you're doing your monologue on stage, you're embodying and transmitting all the energy, all the time and expenditure and force you put in to rehearsing the monologue. It's right here. It's right now. So let's think about warming up, maintaining your focus, and being ready to speak on stage. You might want to pick a good physical exercise. I like a spine stretch, which I will demonstrate. A very simple exercise that you can do in a bounded area. You're going to put your feet about shoulder length apart. Flex your knees. You're just going to flop over until your hands are about fit to the floor. You're just going to hang there. You're going to breathe from here. This will stretch out some parts of your body. And it's a meditation posture. And you can bring yourself up, up, up nice and slow, nice and slow, bring yourself up. Then you can extend that to a reach. Reach up to the ceiling. And all of this will make you feel a little bit better. It'll be a way of keeping your focus. It'll be a way of making sure that you know you're about ready to go on stage. So those are all good things to do."
