"I am Dr. Charles Grimes and I am speaking on behalf of Expert Village about how to deal with the day of your theatrical audition. Here is a thought that I want to plant into your head as an actor: it is your job to plan ahead and avoid all emergencies that might be following you on the day of the audition. It is a very simple concept, but no one is going to write you a rain check for an audition you failed to show up at. So, let's think about all the things that might happen, that might throw you off getting there, and finding solutions to them. First, know what you are going to wear beforehand, have it all set out even before you get up, just like the first day at school, so that you don't have to waste time thinking to yourself what am I going to wear, where are my clothes, where is that pair of high heels that I haven't worn in three months. All of these are basic but highly important things. You don't want a very small preventable thing to prevent you from getting to that audition on time. If you are going somewhere unfamiliar, look at a map, go there beforehand, figure out how long it is going to take you to get you there, and always leave extra time of course. Try to get there at least half an hour beforehand, if not more. When you get there, you will have time to settle in, you will have time to ask questions and that is all to the good and you won't get there and find that your name is being called 2 minutes before you go up and you have to perform. So, those are all important practical things. Once you put all the work into the monologue, all the work into the prospect of this audition, don't mess it up by not getting there on time."
