"Hi, I am Dr. Charles Grimes and I am speaking on behalf of Expert Village about how to deal with the day of your theatrical audition. Timing your monologue is not a good thing to do the day of the audition or even the day before the audition. It is quite possible as you run through your rehearsal process that the time you thought your monologue is going to take in performance is different from what it is right now. So, have someone with you, have a stopwatch, have a clock, and be able to time out exactly how long your beautiful, brilliant monologue takes in performance. Know that, if you are asked for one minute monologue that is going to be exactly or no more than one minute. If you have an ability to another monologue, and they say how long is that, you can say "I have another one minute or another one minute and a half monologue to give you". All of these things so that you are well prepared and again, it is very easy to get disqualified by going over the time and people will think that you are unprofessional. Not only will you loose that audition but, you will submit the image in people's heads that you cannot follow the rules. So, at least once beforehand or the day before or the day off, get a timing for your monologue. Don't say that was an awful performance or a good performance. Just know how long it is, so that you are not going to break the rule."
