"Hello, I am Chitrotpala Mukherjee from Art Space India and I am talking on behalf of Expert Village. I have been asked to talk about clay sculpture. Now clay is the most ancient material for making sculptures. Millions of years ago people played with clay and while making utensils for utility purpose they also made ornaments, figurines, decorative objects. These figurines were often used for worship and they became like icons. These figures, or these icons are actually clay sculptures. In our country, excavations have led figurines in Maganjudaro and Harapa and surprisingly in our country, even today, we are using clay for making idols for our pujas or celebrations where we pay homage to gods and goddesses who represent different things. They are complete. They are three-dimensional. We can consider them as sculptures in clay. Thank you."
