The trumpet is the highest pitched brass instrument. The most common trumpet is the transposing instrument made of brass tubing. The trumpet has three piston valves that lower the pitch of the instrument. For each valve that is pressed in combination or alone, the trumpet produces a different sound. The notes are produced by the trumpeter actually blowing and vibrating their lips on the mouthpiece of the instrument. The sound of the instrument is projected by the brass bell on the end of the instrument. The oldest trumpets date back to 1500 BC and were made from bronze and silver.

And I’m here to tell you about some things about the trumpet. I’m just going to start off with a couple basic ideas in care. first of all you have a mouth piece and you have your trumpet and it’s made up into different parts including valves, the slide and it’s real important that you keep all of these clean. So some of the basic care that you need to think about is mouthpiece care, you need to take your mouthpiece and sterilize every once in a while. Warm water, warm soapy water works out really well, getting a mouthpiece brush and putting it in the warm soapy water and cleaning it out occasionally is a really good thing for sanitation. "
