How to Do Cumbia Dance Step Turns

"We're doing variations on the cumbia basic step. This step is something typically you would do with your partner, but I'm going to show the footwork here and we're going to do a partner in a future clip coming up. It's the step you would use common for a turn. Let's start with our basic. 1, 2, 3, and I'm doing the basic with the kick. That's the style I like. Here comes the turn. 5, 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1,2 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Notice I'm putting together some of the variations that you've already learned. I'm putting in the kick. I'm putting in the pivot and the basic. Then we're adding the turn. Let me break it down. Here's our basic. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Going into the turn, you start back with half a basic. You go 1, 2. Now, your 3 is where you're going to turn. It's pretty fast. You're going to go 3, you're going to step forward and pivot all at the same time. Here's my kick, 4, step back, 6, 7, 8. I'm pivoting on 3 and I'm coming back on 7. The kicks are still on 4 and 8.
