"Hi! I'm Christina Haggerty and on behalf of Expert Village, today you are going to learn cumbia step. I'm teaching out at Silhouette in Burbank. We're doing the basic step and I'm going to show you a variation on that basic step. Here's the basic step. Stepping 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Once you get comfortable with this rhythm, with this step with the arms and adding the pivot, we can actually add onto it a kick. The kick happens on count 4 and count 8. This is what the kick is going to look like. The kick comes down to the floor very fast and the kick happens actually right before you step back. This is actually going to be the correct angle. When you're kicking with the right, you're going to be kicking towards the corner before you step back. Now when you kick with the left, it's going to be a small kick towards the floor before you step back. Let me show you what it looks like with the count.
