With these basic Merengue steps, this is another variation. I showed you in one of the first footwork clips that you can turn either way. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to show you a variation. This is primarily for the ladies, so guys you can take a seat back for this one. Ladies, what you're going to do is as you step right, you're going to bring your hips around. As you step left, you're going to bring your hips around. I'm going to do the turn, but as I'm doing the turn, I'm going to be turning my hips as well. It creates a pretty sexy move. Merengue can be kind of sexy sometimes. Here's our basic step. As I turn around, I'm stepping right, left, I'm pivoting my hips around to come around, and then I'm coming right back into my Merengue step. Let me break it down. As I step right, I'm actually pushing my hips back and onto that right foot, so you step. Now as you step left, it comes on to the left foot. Right onto the right, left on the left, right on the right, left on the left. Notice, if I were to do this without turning, I'd be stepping right as it comes around. Left, it comes around the front. Right around the back, left around the front. You're creating a circle with your hips. Now adding it back into the Merengue step. Here's my basic. Right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, and back into the Merengue march. 5, 6, 7.
