"Alright, so when you?re playing guitar with a pick there is a couple different things to think about in terms of picking technique. Commonly, what you learn as a beginning guitar player is that you always want to do alternating which means that you do a down stroke and you follow that with an upstroke, another down stroke always. So I'm always doing down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up like a just did. A lot of Blue Grassers do alternate picking as a rule. So to practice alternate picking, I would just recommend taking a major scale, taking a minor scale, actually taking whatever scale you are interesting in learning and just practice playing it with alternating picking."
