"OKay, so I'm going to play, I'm going to do a finger exercise that involves playing four notes per string and then moving to the next string. So, it's like this. (audio demo) Then when I get to the top, I'm going to move up a fret and come back down. (audio demo) I'm going to do that all the way up to the twelfth fret, when my pinkie hits the twelfth fret, then I'll turn around and start coming back down. I highly recommend using a metronome and playing things as quickly as you can play them, but then also make sure to practice things really slowly. Because time is really important in music and a metronome just helps you practice time passively. I'm going to play it quickly for the sake of the exercise so I can go up and down quickly. This is one eighty four. One, two, one, two, three, four. (audio demo) Then when I get to the twelfth fret, I'm going to go, and come back down until I get all the way to the bottom."
