"Ok, we're going to touch on lung capacity and breath control. Just as important as practicing your technique and your fingers and your temperature and all that stuff comes together, you do need proper breath control. You need your lungs to be able to push. If you're playing of any length of time, it's going to wear down on your body. Something, just like practicing, similar to exercising, if you try to run ten miles right off the bat and you haven't ran a day in your life, you're going to get pretty tired, so you need to work out your lungs. The best way to do that, just through practicing. Practice, practice, practice. Using the metronome is also going to help your breath control as you're breathing in and breathing out, and blowing through your exercises at a regular rate, it's not going to be sporadic. You're going to give your lungs time to properly learn how to expand and contract and really fill your horn up with air. Just keep your head up, don't get frustrated when you get tired, get back on the horn and practice again. It takes months and sometimes years to get to a good strong level, so you need to keep at it. Just keep in mind, breath control is really important. Use a metronome."
