"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Carolyn Travisano and I'm here to tell you about painting on feathers. One thing I did want to mention about the quill of the feather if you went ahead and painted on it first. If you're not using the paint marker and you're using regular paint, which you can, it might rub off. The best thing to do is to go ahead and seal it with a clear or a matte finish over top of it. Something also that I do is I just take a rag or a cloth and put it over the top of it and I hold it down that way so my fingers aren't all over it. Our fingers have a natural oil on it as well, and sometimes that might lift up the paint. We're going to go ahead and start laying down some more detail. I'm going to be mixing a little bit of white into a flesh tone with a little bit of burnt sienna and burnt umber so we can get as close to the skin tone that I want. Again, you're going to work from light to dark. Basically what I do is I start the skin tone lighter, the lightest color, and then I add your darker colors to it, so you're basically building it up from light to the dark. Alright. We're going in."
