"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Carolyn Travisano and I'm here to tell you about painting on feathers. Okay, so basically right now I'm going to show you how I setup the pallet. First of all, I go through a lot of pallets. Basically, I use clear plastic plates. It's really important if you're going to do this is that you have to paint the back of your pallet white. Because you're putting colors on top, you want to get the truest color. If you have it on top of a brown piece of paper and it's clear, you might not get the color that you're looking for when you're mixing, so you paint it white first. Starting off with the pallet. Again, I use a lot of earth tones. We'll go through and you can put very little paint on your pallet, because with these acrylics, like I was saying earlier, the drying time on them are rather quickly. If you're not wanting to go through a lot of paint and wasting a lot of paint, just put a little bit of paint of each color on there. You want to keep light colors in the same area, so you have to mix and blend. I'm using burnt umber, burnt sienna. A lot of these colors as you use them, you'll know that they're not traditional color names. Like this one is called toffee. You just kind of go through with an idea of what you're looking for and what you want to use as a design, and then you pick your colors from there. That's also what reference is for as well. To give you an idea of what colors you'll be using. We're still laying down the pallet colors. I'm using a lot of yellows. For the skin tone, yellows, reds. It's not coming out. There we go. Browns. In the center of the pallet I put white and black. Okay. That's our paint pallet. "
