Advanced Beat Matching for DJs

"Hi I’m DJ Brady again on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. In this last clip, I demonstrated beat mixing using two of the same beat. This time, I’m going to use two songs of a different beat speed, also known as BPM, beats per minute. I’ll start off with the first song again, same beat. Now we’re going to bring in a different song, as you can tell, that’s a little fast. Still a little fast, as you can see, I’m using the drag button to bring it down. Still fast, we have a match, that’s called beat matching. Now I’m going to use the channel fader, go ahead and bring it over to cd one, play that. Now as I said, you’d normally be doing this in headphones, but I demonstrated getting a beat match live. So, start on a down beat and I think we’ll have a match here. Then in beat matching we’re going to transfer from one song to the next using the channel fader to go from cd A to cd B. What you’ve just seen is our first successful beat mix. What I’ve done may have looked pretty easy, but its not, it takes countless hours of practice. "
