How to Use a Mixer When DJing

"Hey this is DJ Brady again on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. In this clip, we’re going to be going through the functions of the basic mixer. This particular mixer has four channels, each channel strip has a selection between line or funnel input, or line or cd input, depending on the channel. It also has gain input control, it also has three bands of equalization between high, mid and low. Down here you have your headphone monitoring selector, you can either turn it on or off. You’ve got you individual channel fader volumes, you would choose between your channels using the cross fader and you would assign which channel. So you go to B, you’re either fading to or from one, two, three, or four. And then the same on here. In the master section, you can choose between mono or stereo output, some clubs prefer mono output. You also have your master headphone cueing, your master channel fader, your master balance between right and left, and then down here your booth monitor level, which is also called a zone output. Over here you have the headphone section, also know as the monitoring section. You can select between mono and stereo, you can adjust the equalization level and then you have your headphone level, of course here’s your headphone out. Up here you have your microphone input section, you can plug a standard XLR microphone in here, adjust your level and then you have three bands of equalization. And then of course you can monitor your microphone in your headphones. "
