"The next thing I'm going to talk about is the difference of using either a conducting baton to conduct or just using your hands as, as some conductors prefer. The, the usual distinction is most conductors that conduct a choral ensemble use their hands and the most conductors that conduct an instrumental ensemble use a baton; and that's not a hard and fast rule. If you're going to use your hands a lot of conductors feel that it shows more the shape of the music or the, the style of the music for; for like say a choral conducting or the shape of the mouths. I, I feel that a baton helps really articulate the beat and for an orchestra or concert being I think a baton is; it's probably especially if you're a beginning conductor is probably the way to go."
