"Hi! I am Brandon Nowasky and on behalf of Expert Village.com I am going to show you little more on card tricks. Today, we are going to over technique called the double lift, but this is the technique to show two cards as one. Here, you appear to show the top card when in fact showing the second. This can be used for many different reasons, which we will go over later on. The basic techniques though are, first you need to get a break underneath the top two cards. The easiest way to do this, is just push over the top two, get a break and then pull back and you can do this covered by doing a spread and then squaring up, get a break. You have your break and you can go in with the thumb at the break, push off, grab the cards, and just hold them together as one. For all intents and purposes, because of how thick the cards are, it appears to be one card; show that card, the fact is it's showing a completely different card. A little more advanced way to do it, after you’ve gotten that down is to get the break and then just turn over the card. To do this, just go in with your middle finger and first finger, slide out both cards, and flip it over. So it’s still just the two, with that break, the cards will hold together, just like that. Really flipping over two cards but appears to be one; that is a double lift. "
