"This is Branson Garner on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this segment, we are going to be talking about playing the bass using the bow. This is the bow shaft, as you can see. This is the head of the bow, and the tail of the bow with the bow screw. This is the hair of the bow, which is actually made of horsehair, used for more grip on the strings. This here is called the frog of the bow, and together this makes the bow. When first playing with the bow, we need to apply some rosin on it first, so the horsehair that we have can grip the string very well, and it can make a nice broad sound. Now when bowing, it just takes a slight movement of your arm, just like this. Pretend like its just hanging there. Completely relax your arm, that way you can get the best tone out of your right arm and out your right hand to come through the bow, so just something like this. There it is, so you can do stuff like…and that is playing with the bow."
