Arm position is very important in belly dancing. You want your arms to frame your body but not interfere with what your body is doing. You don't want your arms to be too busy or to stationary or to stiff. So a good basic arm position is arms out to the side, palms facing in framing the body. So this is not interfering with anything the body is doing but creating a nice frame for whatever else you want to do with your body in that position. So the palms are facing in and you want to lift out with the elbows, ok... As the elbows come out you want to make sure that there not pulling back, alright. We're making that frame. The elbows should be the widest point on you. So if you were standing in a door frame the elbows would be touching the sides, ok... Palms facing in and wrists are relaxed. Make sure shoulder doesn't roll forward, keep the shoulders back and down; K. Knees are bent, belly button is pulled in; chest is lifted, palms facing in; elbows are out, shoulders are back. Now from here anywhere we turn our body to showcase any moves that we're going to do, the arms create a beautiful frame to showcase our movements.
