"My name is Alex Ruiz from Miami Beach, Florida with Salsa Mia dance studio, and today we’re going to teach you Afro-Cuban music. Okay, so now we’re going to talk about the instruments that we use whenever we dance Afro-Cuban. As you hear whenever we start to dance to this there are a lot of drums involved. We’ll go from the small ones to the big ones. Usually when you have a fast pace song, we’ll be using the big drums so people can hear them better. When you dance slower Afro-Cuban, you use the smaller drums. Now, besides that, we also use another instrument such as a cowbell so we can use with all the clave which I’m going to be telling you about. We also have an instrument called la weada which is a long metal stick that we use to implement behind the drums. Besides that, there’s also many other ones, depending where the music comes from. If it’s usually from Cuba, you use the drums. Anywhere from South America, you might use a guitar or harp."
