There are lots of creative people who also have businesses and a lot of them may feel that it is best ot start their own little label, build it up and sell it out to a bigger company. A lot of times they will press up their own records, put them out there, they'll market, promote, distribute, they'll do it in a cheaper manner. Do a lot of stuff organically and virally on the web and create the demand for the music and get the interest going for somebody else to take the project away from them. Lot's of people are doing their own thing whether it be Dan Zanes with Festival Five, whether it be Sufjan & Stephens with his company, Ani Di Franco did years ago at a time when it was impossible to do it and she pulled it off and we are in a do it yourself world today.
