"BEN ANDERSON: Hi, this is Ben Anderson with Expert Village, and today I'm going to talk to you about mixing your levels with your different components in a multi-rig setup. When playing with different keyboards in a multi-rig setup, it's important to know where your level should be set, determined by what you'll be playing in different points and which songs. For example, in one particular song in a show that I played, I used two keyboards and I used two different sounds, and therefore I had to adjust the sounds that I was using appropriately. To give you a brief example, I will play some of it for you. So, that's just a clear example of how you can set different levels depending upon what's being played and how important it is in a song. To set the levels first, generally what I do is I'll play through the different parts and I'll determine how loud those sounds are 'cause some sounds on a keyboard will be louder than other sounds on the keyboard and some keyboards will be naturally louder than other keyboards themselves. So, I'll determine the natural volume of each and then I'll adjust accordingly by the volume knobs that are set on the keyboard. So, for example, I'll try and sit here and play the one sound, and I'll adjust the sound until I think it's a good loud enough level, and then I'll sit and play with my other sound, and I'll sit and wait to find a good level volume that I think matches about the same volume as the other instrument, and when I think I've had it then they match up."
