Component Options for a Multi-Rig Synthesizer Set-Up

"BEN ANDERSON: Hi. I'm Ben Anderson with Expert Village, and today I'm going to be talking to you about different components that you can be using in your keyboard setup in your multi-rig setup. Here I am holding a 1989 Yamaha keytar. This is one of the many examples of the different components that you can use in your multi-rig setup. These were very popular in the 1980s and it became popular again today. I use this as more of a mini controller while I play synthesizer; what that means is I'm using it as a controller rather than an instrument itself. I tell the instrument what I want it to play through using MIDI cables and another synthesizer I'm able patch this through with that synthesizer and get the correct sound that I want out of it. Therefore, I'm merely just playing with the notes that I want to have played on here and the sound is reproduced through another synthesizer. There are many other different ways that you can do this. Again, having multiple keyboards and other different synthesizers as well add up to the many different components that you can have, but what's important to know is that determining what components you have is up to you, the player, and is determined also by what genre of music you're playing and the style of your performance and how good of a performer you are. So, like I said before, this keytar here I'm using it as a mini-controller. There are many different sounds that I can get out of it by using it as a controller and by patching it through MIDI into a different synthesizer. One sound that I can use is this sound in particular. Another sound I can have would be something like this."
