"BEN ANDERSON: Hi. I'm Ben Anderson with Expert Village, and I'm here today to talk to you about harmonizing with vocals using the keyboard. Keyboard again, is used more for support and background more than anything and in oftentimes, it's also used to harmonize with other different instruments as well as the vocals in a song. There are many different ways that you can do this but for one example, if a singer was singing something like (sings a melody) I can play along with that and with sound something like this (plays melody and harmony in thirds with keyboard). It adds a little bit of tonal harmony to the song which is really nice. Harmony helps to fill out that empty space that might not--it might normally be there if it weren't for the keyboard. There are other different ways that you can do this. I'm currently using a piano sound. You can use many other different types of sounds. It doesn't have to be a piano. It could be an organ sound, it could be a flute, it could be a string instrument, it could be bass or it could even be a pad sound, but there are many different ways that you can help utilize the use of harmonizing with different vocals."
