Using the Touch Latch in Apple Logic Pro

"This is Bill Macpherson for Expert Village okay in this clip I'm going to show you how to do some automation we're going to choose this guitar track now it sometimes it's a little bit easier to enlarge the track if you go into the lower left corner of the track you can see your hand will change to a pointing finger. Just click there and drag down and you track will enlarge now you want to go over here into your channel strip and a couple of modes I'm going to show you touch and latch. We're going to do latch first so turn on latch we're going to take our fader and move it to zero, now to record this automation you don't need to be in record mode it will record your automation just when it's playing. So all you have to do is hit the play button and then move the fader and it'll record your movements so let's try it (playing) okay you can see that it recorded my movements when I start moving my slider you can see it just stayed at that same point. Now if we use touch mode it'll do it a little bit differently instead of staying at the same point when you let go of the slider it'll return to the same point that you started at. So why don't we try that now we'll hit play (playing) now you can see when I let go of the slider it just snapped down to the same place that it started off at. Same here and here now to hear back the automation you did you just go over here and turn it to read and now that it's on read your automation is protected, in the next clip we're going to talk about using segments and drawing them right on your timeline."
