Hi. This is Alex Spurkel of Naked Rhythm and Universal Drumming. In this clip, we're going to learn the Malfuf rhythm. Malfuf is another two-four rhythm, which is usually played very fast. So, it takes some practice to get it up to speed. Now, I'm going to show you two variations, a simpler one and a more advanced. The simpler one is pretty easy, and I think you'll be able to get it. It works like this. Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Tek, Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Tek, Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Tek, Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Tek. Playing that up to a little more speed. Now, once you're ready for the advanced version, you're going to incorporate the slap and some really fast double Ka's, so make sure to practice your triplet exercises from the previous clip in order to train yourself for this. Doum, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka. That would be one repetition. I'll do it even slower. Doum, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka. Stringing it together, moderate tempo, Doum, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka, Doum, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka, Ka, Slap, Ka. Now at full speed, the way it's most often played. So work on your chops, and try to go like the tempo in the Malfuf.
