"Hi. This is Alex Spurkel with Naked Rhythm and Universal Drumming. In this clip, we're going to learn the rhythm Ayub. Ayub is a two-four rhythm, meaning the cycle repeats every two beats. I'm going to show you a simple version and a more advanced version. The simple version goes like this. Three, four, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek. Even slower--Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek. Now up to proper speed. Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek, Doum, Ka, Doum, Tek. And now, let's see a more advanced version of Ayub, where we add a few more notes and a slap. It sounds like this. Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Doum, Slap, Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Doum, Slap. Slowly--Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Doum, Slap, Doum, Ka, Tek, Ka, Doum, Slap. And now up to speed. And that's Ayub."

on 8/2/2008 Hear ye, Hear ye, Alex Spurkel rocks, and his Intro to the Doumbek is a crystal clear transmission. This is great stuff for anyone brand new to the Doumbek. I certainly benefitted from it. -Stargazer
