"Hi, this is Alex Spurkel of Naked Rhythm and Universal Drumming on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip were going to do the first of three practice exercises I'm going to teach you. This one focuses on coordinating the doum and the tek strikes together. The doum tek and the car rather. So the first drill that you're going to do is quite simply just to hit the three strikes in order. Doum tek, cah, Doum, tek, cah. Start slow, and then speed it up as you get better. The second variation on that is to play four sets of doum, tek, followed by four sets of doum, cah. Works like this, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. Those two are very good exercises for learning how to do the doum, tek, and cah in coordination with one another. Work on those."

on 8/26/2009 This is an excellent video. I am taking professional drum lessons once a week. These exercises helped me to improve my speed as well as breaking hand patterns that I had developed from playing only two or three rhythms at first.
