Where to Find Toys & Items for Circuit Bending

"AMANDA CLAIRE: Okay, so when I talk a little bit about where to shop for things to circuit bend. The first thing I really would like to discourage you from doing is buying something new and there's a couple of reasons for that. One is that it's expensive. Okay, something like this would cost $15 to $20 new. If you go to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, you can get it for $2, okay? So expense is one concern, but another thing that if you're socially conscious that to think about that there's so much electronic garbage in the world right now, there's like computers that can't easily be recycled, there's way more of this stuff made than is actually kept around households. You think about if you were a parent, you had a kid that was walking around all day playing this thing, I mean, he would get rid of it in probably a couple of months and that's why the thrift stores are filled with them right? But the point is, is there's a lot of used stuff out there that's not only cheap but you can think of circuit bending as recycling. Something that was manufactured and has been discarded and instead of it going to a landfill, you kind of take it and you do something with it. So that's kind of the socially kind of conscious way to maybe choose things to circuit bend instead of buying something new. Go for used things, you'll save money, you'll help the environment and all that. eBay is--can also be a good place to get things but one problem with eBay is obviously you're paying shipping and a lot of things on eBay can be overpriced. And there are also a lot of eBay sellers that have kind of gotten hit to circuit bending and so they'll put in their listing, "Hey, this can be circuit bent" as if that's a big deal. And so now by watching my video, you know that almost anything can be circuit bend so don't be swayed by some eBay vendor that's trying to sell you a toy for $10 plus $10 shipping because he says it can be circuit bent when in fact you can go to the local sort of thrift store and get the same thing and you already know that you can circuit bend it because anything can be bent."
