"AMANDA CLAIRE: All right. So we've got the accordion on. I'm sitting down right now. If you're sitting down, a lot of players like to rest the treble part of the accordion on their knees so that they can, you know, squeeze the bellows with the other side and kinda keep the treble part, you know, sort of stationary. If you're standing up, the accordion kinda rests against your chest or against your hips, okay? So let's talk a little bit about squeezing the bellows. A lot of people pick up the accordion for the first time and they just kind of, you know, kinda squeeze it back and forth and that will make a sound. It's important to know what, sort of, the limits of the play of the bellows are. So once you get it all the way in, it's not going to go anymore so you need to kinda think about that. But also, it will kinda have a maximum--you probably don't want to get it out much more than that, so, just kind of being aware of what the play of the bellows is. Then the other thing is, is when you play a melody, you don't need to do this with every single note, right? So if I'm going to play a little melody, I don't know. I'll play "Twinkle, twinkle little star." I don't have to go. It's way too much motion, right. If it's a good accordion and a good bellows, there'll be enough pressure in there to just kind of gradually, just kind of, either do a pull or a squeeze, and I could probably play that whole phrase with just one motion, you know, like, okay. So that was real simple."
