"Now other than sepia, there are a few, there are actually quite a few different types of toners that you can use out there. There's one toner called Selenium toner. Now this toner, selenium toner is probably one of the most beautiful toners to use, but it's also one of the most toxic toners. One other way that I like to tone prints that's definitely not toxic at all, is to tone it in tea or coffee. Which is really a great way to just get introduced to the way you can actually make prints in a darkroom look different, without really getting into some pretty high end chemistry. So what I do, is I just take a pot of coffee, as simple as it sounds, and a tray, photographic tray. I put my print in the tray and I pour the coffee in there. I try not to get the coffee to be too hot, just you know, normal seventy, eighty degrees. I let the print sit in the coffee for maybe even up to two days. And it brings out that rich tone. And again it's cheap and it's really fun to do."
