"So after I got my test strip and I picked out my time, I made my, my print. And it's a gradual process and it's one that I want to talk about right now because I think it will probably help you a lot once you get into the darkroom. And you start running into things that don't make sense and general frustrations and how, why can't I get a good print? And you know I'm holding in my hand a print that I made kind of bad on purpose. And if you look at this print, it's a dog. It looks awful. There's no detail. It's grey. It just doesn't look like anything should look. And in some ways the darkroom was appealing to me when I first started because it was, it was like magic. It was like I could go into this room and make these prints and it would come up in the developer and it was really fun. But when I would have problems, it wasn't so magical. It was like well, why? And a lot of this is science and math and chemistry. And really, it's kind of cool after a while because once you look at a problem, if you calmly ask yourself "what did I do?" you can almost always get to a point where you can make it better. This print, for instance, was completely over exposed and left in the developer too long."
