"Today, we're going to talk about copyrighting a song and also publishing a song. An example of what a publisher will do, let me show you this real quick on this song called "Blue Sky" by Miss Da'Quela Payne. Right here it's going to show you where the publishing line is, right here. It says 2008 Meaux Mercy, that's where my company has affiliation with, [PH] Lyrics in My Pocket, that's my company, BMI, that's the broadcast company, that's the company that's going to collect the money from airplay, ringtone, et cetera, administered by EMI CMG Publishing and also my co-writer [PH] Mr. Roy Badel, his company called [PH] Rotten Music for Life, and they are represented by ASCAP. So, that's a publisher's line right there. That's pretty much saying who is collecting money on behalf of those people, that's who's going to collect the publishing royalties for the album, for the song owner and also BMI or ASCAP is going to pay us for the money that's on broadcast and ring tunes, et cetera. So, that's--whenever you see that line on the album, you'll know, man, that's the publishing line right there and those are the people who control, own, or collect revenue for the songwriters."
