We are talking about last few components for designing our home studio for music production and recording. One of the last things to consider after you have thought about all the different input devices that you have; microphones and vidi controllers and whatever instruments you will be using to create the sounds that you will be making is how you are going to listen to those sounds; the output. Once we know about the input, we need to think now about the output and one of the most important components in your home studio are going to referenced monitors. What is a reference monitor? A reference monitor is essentially a speaker which has the closest fidelity to the sound that is being produced. These differ from normal home stereo speakers in that home stereo speakers are designed to push certain frequencies and enhance the sound. Generally home stereo speakers attempt to make instruments sound fuller than they maybe already are or make them sound as if they are in a live context. Referenced studio monitors however with their flat frequency response will allow you to mix your different levels of instruments and different keys of instruments with the highest possible fidelity.
