"ATHENA REICH: In this clip, I'm going to talk about the journey of your song, or your monologue, if that's what you're auditioning with for your Broadway show. Every monologue or song, you want to show a journey. This is how you can really show that you're an actress who couldn't pull off an entire play. I mean, acting is about a journey. It's about just watching a character go from one moment to another. So, in "Shy" from "Once Upon a Mattress," for example, my journey is that I start out really shy and neurotic, but then I reassure my partner, "It's okay. I'm still lovable," but in the end, I'm still really nervous, but there's a kind of transformation in that. I've kind of, come to accept my shyness in the end. And I'll show you what I mean: "Actually, because I'm actually, terribly timid. I mean, I just feel terrible about this, and I'm ugly! I feel horrible about it but I kind of accept it, horribly shy.""
