"In this clip In All About Performance Art, I'm going to talk about the difference between art and entertainment. Performance Art is basically Art. Although, it can be entertaining. But what do I mean when I say Art, Entertainment? Well Art, when you create a piece, of a work of art, usually have a thesis, you have a concept. You want to convince the audience or make them feel something. You want to provoke. You want to push buttons. In Art, you can make the audience mad. You, in Art, you can make them, you know, cry, make them outrage. You can offend the audience. If I'm creating an entertainment piece, I just want my audience to have a great time. I want them to walk away whistling a happy tune. I want them to walk away happy with a smile and I want to appeal to most people, to the status quo, I don't want to offend anyone in entertainment. But this is an important distinction in Performance Art because, Performance Art can be entertaining but the tradition of Performance Art comes from the tradition of Visual Art of creating a concept, of provoking people and making people think."
