"Every violinist; whether beginner or advanced, needs to make sure that they have the right teacher. Oftentimes, violinists only get instruction from school, and aren't getting the private attention that they need. When you're selecting a private violin teacher you need to make sure that they have the proper credentials for teaching the violin. Whether they've been in a symphony, been a teacher before, gone to school and gotten a degree for it, or have played for many years on end; You need to make sure that your teacher can actually teach you what you have to learn. Students should always be looking for the teacher who's going to give them proper instruction, keep their posture correct, teach them how to tune, teach them how to take care of their violin, and the list goes on and on. A proper private teacher will also give you the opportunity to play in front of large crowds, to play in groups, and to play with symphonies. They'll give you plenty of opportunities that teachers without credentials might not give you."
