"Hi! I'm Amy Wallace on behalf of Expert Village and today we are going to be discussing how to be a good movie critic or more importantly, how to start out as a movie critic with a budget. Although most critics will tell you the best way to view a film is in the theater and I full hardily agree. If you are working on a budget, you might want to start out reviewing some DVD's. If you grab a new release from your local video store, it will cost you around $5.00 to rent for the evening. Now DVD's are really good in that you can put your DVD in, make your own popcorn which also saves you money and you can have your lamp on beside you so that you can take any notes that you need during the course of the movie. DVD's are also very good because you can pause and rewind them. If you see a part that you find particularly poignant or repugnant, you can make note of it. However, you are going to want to ensure that you don't do this too much. The film is meant for you to fall into. If you are pausing or rewinding a DVD top often, you are not going to be within the movie, you are not going to be in the moment and you could lose the scent that the filmmaker was trying to go for. So it is a good tool but it can also be a little bit damming, so just be careful. "
