"ANGELA FRACASSO: Hi, I'm Angela at ExpertVillage.com. Sorry, I stuttered over my words. Right now, I'm just kind of trying to show you how important depth is when you're painting. When I had it drawn on here, I drew so you can see the angle. You definitely want to be able to see it so it doesn't look like a flat object. But how you get depth in a picture is really by your shadowing and highlight because you can see like--it looks like it has another side to it because I've highlighted it here. And you can see how things stick out. You can definitely see how there's depth in the drawing so it doesn't look like a flat object. So that's why shadowing and highlighting is so important. And it's really about just the little steps that you make--that you take to give something a little bit of perspective so it can look like it's popping out. Little highlights here and there on black. I'm just kinda just eyeballing it and just making sure you stick with your light source so you keep it on the right side. You can also do highlights and low lights on the same brush. Just kinda go back and forth."
