Video Transcript

"Hello! I am Annie Brunson on behalf of Expert Village. Today we’re going to learn about key signatures. Specifically, key signatures with sharps. In the previous lesson, we learned the scale of C. The scale of C has no black notes, no sharps and no flats. We go up a perfect fifth from C to G. G has one sharp. If you follow the rules of the scale, you will find out which sharp that is. Whole note, whole note, semitone, half tone, whole note, whole note, whole note takes you up to F sharp, your one sharp, semitone. Go up a perfect fifth from G, and you reach D. D has 2 sharps. The F sharp that has already been played in the G and we add C sharp. Go up a perfect fifth from D and you get to A. A has 3 sharps. Go up a perfect fifth from A and you find E. E has 4 sharps. Go up a perfect fifth from E and you get to B. B has 5 sharps."
