Summary: Learn details and information about what soft light is and its use in videography in this free video clip.
"Now we’re on segment sixteen which I’m going to be covering soft light sources, now we’ve just finished doing the hard light sources where you could see the very sharp shadows. Now if you look right now you can’t see the shadow too much here on my shirt it’s a little blurred out, it’s a little murky and what makes a soft light source is that you know the light it’s like rays that are coming off and instead of hitting everything in a concentrated spot what it does is it bounces off of everywhere. So it’s like the light is coming from a lot of different directions and kind of filling in those shadow areas which makes it a little blurry around the lines and it’s not as you know menacing and so forth when you’re looking at it. So you might actually affix a soft box which is just a big kind of white grid that kind of goes over your light source to kind of break up that light to make it not hard.
