I'm going to demonstrate for you a technique for the mounted tambourine I call the hi hat tambourine shake. What you're going to do is once you've got it set up to your hi hat rod, if you loosen up your clutch so it's no longer lifting the hi hat, you're just moving the bar up and down with your left foot. This movement, this up and down motion, the same way you would open and close a hi hat, you can get this to make a sound. Now, right now it's pretty silent, because I'm moving it slow. But as soon as you take your foot off of the hi hat pedal, you hear those jangles going into action. And anything that goes up, must come down, so you can get, just like the side to side motion we played on the tambourine, you can get an up and down motion going on your left foot just by doing that. That's your left foot, you've got both hands and your right foot available to play whatever you want. And since those are the most commonly used limbs for soloing or rocking out on the drum set, you've just got a built-in percussion section in your left foot.
