So a pedal board is a way to put all of your effects today in lieu of using a multiflex processor. A pedal board is a good way to have your individual effects at your feet with individual controls that you are able to manipulate on the fly during your performance. People use effects to better than guitar sound so it is not just your guitar going straight into your amp. It makes you sound a little more professional when you are playing and it makes the guitar sound a little bit different. As a guitar player, your tone is one of the many tools that you can use as part of your arsenal as being a guitar player. Many different guitar players sort of distinguish themselves by their tone and you can use effects to really develop your on individual sound and that is one of the many ways you can use the pedal board to your advantage. You can sort of use your individual effects to identify yourself as a guitar player. "
