"Hi my name is Alaina and I’m going to start off by showing you a little bit about charcoal drawing. When you’re drawing a side profile, you actually want to start with two circles. You want to start with an oval for the front of the face and then if you look at the back of the face, like a skull would be, you’re going to have you’re going to have the back part of your head is going to be a circle shape. And then you can draw where in the neck line would be. When you’re drawing your human form, you want to constantly be making sure that you’re checking back with the person that you’re drawing whether it be a live person or a picture, so that way you’re not stuck on your picture and then look back and it’s completely disproportional. You want to constantly be comparing. When you’re drawing lips, you want to make sure that you don’t draw the outline of the lip, that’s what makes your lips look not completely real and not 3-D. You’re drawing the bottom lip actually, it’s going to be the darkest part of your lip, so if you want to just go in and shade right away, and it’ll bring your lip out. So it makes the bottom part of your lip stick out now because you’ve shaded underneath the lip because that’s the natural contours of the face. "
