"ALEX BOYE: Welcome everyone! All you wonderful people out there in internet land, my name is Alex Boye, and we're here on behalf of Expert Village and we're going to talk right now about performance, about stage presence. We're talking right now about your song, how important the first song is. Okay? Now, the first song, okay, it's important but not in the ways that people think. Did you know that we're not--let's say, for example, I'm going to go to a date, when you're asking someone out on a date. Alright? The first thing they're trying to do is check you out, alright. When you go up to the girl and you say, "Hey, how are you doing? My name is Alex. What's your name?" CAROL: [PH] Carol. ALEX BOYE: Carol, nice to meet you. CAROL: Nice meeting you. ALEX BOYE: Wonderful. Yes, it's a pleasure--pleasure meeting you. You see that. It was just informal. She's checking me out. She's probably at one point--see, it's so cool the fact that I'm married, I start to know things that other single people don't, like for example, at that minute, they're looking at your shoes, they're looking at everything that you're wearing, they're looking at the way you look, how you smell, everything, all in just that one second. And hey, it's the same thing when you're performing. Most of the time when you perform, you're performing to strangers. So, when you perform to strangers, you've got to act in a certain way. So, the first thing, the first song, they'll not even listen to you. They're just checking you out to see if you don't suck. So, anything that's weird and out of place, they're going to catch up on. Alright? So, I just want you to bear that in mind. Your first song is really important. They're not listening to you, they're checking you out, okay? That's all they're doing. We're going to go into the next song now."
