"ALEX BOYE: Greetings, everyone. I hope you're having a smashing day or evening or night or whatever it is. We're here on behalf of Expert Village doing a video on how to have stage presence on stage and how to not suck on stage. We want to talk about a waiter, alright? When a waiter comes into a restaurant, the first thing the waiter says is, "May I help you?" or something like that, alright? Now, think about the ways that the waiter says it, alright. Imagine if the waiter came out to you and he said, "Hey, welcome to Denny's! Where can I take your food and order?!?" You will look at him, you and your family are like, "Honey, let's get out of here." You're gone. So, there's a way that you have to engage them. It's the same thing with your audience. For example, if you come out on stage, opening song and you start screaming your head out and just talking to them, you know what I mean, they don't think you're weird, "Hi, my name is Alex! I'm going to sing a song for you! It goes little something like this!" It's just not going to work. And so the key is just being friendly, eye contact, 'cause that's what the waiter is doing. Imagine if the waiter said to you, you look at me here and I'm like, "Dude, can I take your order?" You're gone! So you gotta look at your audience. "May I take your order?" It's the same thing, okay? And so on the other side, we're going to be talking a little bit more about, now once you've gained their attention or how to gain the attention of your audience so that they don't look at their watches during your show. They look at your watch after the show. And they say, "Oh, my gosh! Is it finished already?""
