"Alright, now we're going to be talking about customizing your white balance on the Canon 40D. The way to do that is by pressing the menu button, making sure that your camera is turned on and active, and press the menu button and you have these menus to scroll though here. The customize white balance setting is going to be under the second camera settings menu. Once you get to this menu, you can scroll up and down here and you can see that our white balance is set to manual, custom white balance there. There's all these other options but yeah, we're going to use the custom white balance setting. Then I'm going to scroll down to custom white balance and this is where we're going to actually pull the custom balance. Now what this page here is asking you to do is select an image from which to pull the white balance, and the best way to do this is to go ahead and shoot a picture of a white card, a white balanced card. Sometimes they make fifteen percent gray cards which are really, probably better than just a plain white card. In this case we just took a picture of our white wall and what I'm going to do is press the, I can scroll through these, all these pictures and select one that I think will be best usable to pull a white balance. I'm going to select this one and then the camera says "use the white balance data from this image for custom WB? Either cancel or ok. I'm going to say Ok and the white balance is set from that image. Your white balance is now customized and what you can do now is anytime you want to select your custom white balance it's going to default back to the previous customized balance that you pulled from an image. So if I wanted to I could go ahead and select this fluorescent balance, shoot with that for a while and then come back to our custom balance and it will be the same. To go ahead and save that I'm going to exit from the menu and now our camera is ready to shoot."
